SOAHAC’s purpose is to improve access to, and the quality of, health services for First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples in the spirit of partnership, mutual respect and sharing.
A healthy balanced life through mental, physical, spiritual and emotional well-being.
To empower Aboriginal families and individuals to live a balanced state of well-being by sharing and promoting wholistic health practices.
SOAHAC’s culture will be most healthy if these values are intentionally lived out and reinforced on a regular basis.
- Respect for all
- Quality in health promotion and care
- Honouring all traditional values
In 2016-2017, the SOAHAC Board of Directors was engaged in an in-depth strategic planning process spanning half of the year. This included reviewing bylaws; reviewing SOAHAC’s
history and current operations; revisiting the organizational purpose and vision; exploring
assets, opportunities and vulnerabilities; and identifying strategic directions. The priorities
identified through this process include Board development; sectoral collaboration; expanded
scope of services; an expanded suite of traditional services; and communications.
