National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

September 30, 2023

Today marks National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. This day is dedicated to commemorating the residential school experience while also honouring the journey of healing of survivors and their families, and committing to the ongoing process of reconciliation. Today is also recognized as Orange Shirt Day, an opportunity to foster global conversations on Residential Schools and the lasting impacts they have. To learn more about Orange Shirt Day, visit orangeshirtday.org. At SOAHAC, we continue to use this day to pay respect and honour residential school survivors and victims. SOAHAC will be open; we are hosting events, facilitating programming and providing teachings on the importance and significance of this day. Each Integrated Care Manager has worked with their site teams to determine what this day will look like for each SOAHAC site; you can contact the site closest to you for more details.
