UPDATE: Our Health Counts London a Success!

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Our Health Counts London survey! The project has been an overwhelming success thanks to your interest and involvement.  We reached our goal of 750 surveys, and had one of the fastest participant-referrals that the Well Living House researchers have ever seen! We could not have done it without you.

Please keep an eye out for the report, which will be published to the website when it is complete. In the meantime, those with questions are welcome to contact Katie Big-Canoe, Community Research Coordinator, through email at [email protected].  If you participated in the survey but have not collected your referrals, you have until April 30 to do so.

Our Health Counts is a community-based research project that gathers missing health information about urban Aboriginal people in order to improve and expand upon existing health and social services. The survey was first developed in 2009 as a partnership between Well Living House at St. Michael’s Hospital and De Dwa Da Dehs Nye>s Aboriginal Health Centre (Hamilton). As a result of the project’s success, other urban Aboriginal agencies have partnered with Well Living House to complete similar surveys, including Toronto and Ottawa. SOAHAC surveyed Aboriginal people living, working, or accessing health and/or social services in London, Ontario.

The results of the Hamilton project can be found at www.ourhealthcounts.ca. London’s report will be available on the SOAHAC website when it is complete.
