SOAHAC Honours the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation
The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation honours the children who never made it home from the residential school system; survivors of residential schools; and their families and communities, who were deeply impacted by the tragic, systematic effort to eradicate the cultures of Indigenous peoples.
Today, we honour those children and their families. We affirm that Every Child Matters. We are witnesses to the healing journey and we seek to empower Indigenous families and individuals to live a balanced state of well-being by sharing and promoting wholistic health practices.
SOAHAC is open across all of our sites, with each site leading its own programming. Some events are open to client participation; please refer to each site’s Facebook page for more information, or call the office.
If you are in need of urgent support, please contact the The Hope for Wellness Help Line for counselling and crisis intervention at 1-855-242-3310. They are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
Former residential school survivors can call 1-866-925-4419 for emotional crisis referral services and information on other health supports from the Government of Canada.
