SOAHAC Welcomes Janice (Jan) Martin as Our New Chief Executive Officer
Dear SOAHAC Community, Partners, and Supporters,
We are excited to announce that Janice (Jan) Martin has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC), effective Friday November 22, 2024.
Jan returns to SOAHAC with a wealth of experience in management, health services, organizational growth, and a strong commitment to improving health outcomes for Indigenous communities. She has an impressive track record of leadership within SOAHAC where she previously served in the role of Director, Indigenous Relations. She secured capital funding for the creation and building of Nshwaasnanong Child Care & Family Centre as well as for the new Dundas St location in London, Ontario. Further to this, Jan played a significant role in the development and implementation of the Dental Program. Jan’s extensive achievements highlight her commitment to Indigenous Health and Wellness.
As CEO, Jan Martin will build on SOAHAC’s mission to provide wholistic and culturally safe health and wellness services to Indigenous individuals and families. Under her leadership, SOAHAC will continue to grow and innovate, integrating traditional Indigenous knowledge with Western health practices to enhance care delivery.
In her own words:
"I am deeply honored to join SOAHAC again and to work alongside its dedicated team. I look forward to advancing our shared vision of wholistic wellness and ensuring that health services remain accessible, high-quality, and culturally grounded for all Indigenous people we serve."
This appointment marks an exciting new chapter for SOAHAC as we strengthen our role in addressing barriers to health care, building partnerships, and supporting the well-being of the communities we serve.
We would also like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the entire SOAHAC team who continued to support and care for our clients as the search for the next CEO was underway.
We invite you to join us in warmly welcoming Jan to the SOAHAC family. Together, we look forward to continuing the work of empowering Indigenous health and wellness.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in this important journey.
Sincerely,
Martha Albert
