A Leadership Announcement from SOAHAC

Dear SOAHAC Community, Funders, and Partners, 

Today, we’re sharing with our community that Brian Dokis, the long-time CEO of Southwest Ontario Aboriginal Health Access Centre (SOAHAC), is retiring after nearly 24 years of dedicated service. Brian’s leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to improving Indigenous health outcomes have left an indelible mark on our organization and the communities we serve.

Under Brian’s guidance, SOAHAC has grown into a beacon of hope and support for Indigenous peoples across Southwestern Ontario. His passion for advocating for equitable healthcare access, cultural competency, and community empowerment will continue inspiring us as we carry on this important work. We are grateful for Brian’s tireless efforts and profound impact on SOAHAC’s mission.

In the spirit of continuity, we're excited to introduce Jason George as our Interim Chief Executive Officer. 

Jason is a proud member of the Kettle and Stony Point First Nation and brings a wealth of diverse life experiences, education, and professional expertise to the role. He has been actively involved in client service delivery and has held leadership positions with multiple Indigenous organizations across Southwestern Ontario, including SOAHAC. With a Master of Social Work degree in Indigenous Trauma Resiliency from the University of Toronto, Jason possesses the skills needed to navigate complex issues and offer valuable insights into the challenges and resilience of Indigenous communities. His unwavering commitment to advancing Indigenous health and wellbeing makes him exceptionally qualified to lead us through this transitional period and beyond. 

We offer our full support to Jason as he takes on this new role. Together, we remain steadfast in our commitment to fulfilling SOAHAC’s mission to empower Indigenous families and individuals to live a balanced state of wellbeing by sharing, delivering and promoting wholistic health practices.
